Online Clinical Living Somatics Training 14-week training, starting 2 October 2024
This 14-week training will enable you to work with effectively with one-on-one online clinical lessons addressing the core somatic habituations. In this training you will learn:
• Master Core Somatic Clinical Lessons: Learn to guide clients through the Green Light, Red Light, and Trauma lessons, addressing the root causes of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction.• Online and in-person application: Gain skills to lead effective clinical lessons without touch, allowing you to be flexible in how and where you work with clients.• Holistic Approach to Pain: Through comprehensive lectures we will explore pain from idiopathic, pathological, anatomical, and quantum perspectives.• Somatic-Informed Internal Family Systems (IFS): Discover how to integrate IFS, a cutting-edge self-led healing with somatic practices for deeper client awareness and transformation.• Practical and Theoretical Insights: Delve into the functional anatomy and theoretical background of somatic habituations, while developing a compassionate, embodied approach to healing.
In this training you will learn how to embody, demonstrate and lead your client through the three core clinical lessons online, namely the Green Light, Red Light and Trauma lessons. Each lesson will be broken down to understand its functional intent and the connected embodied anatomy.
A series of lectures will cover pain from an idiopathic and pathological, anatomical perspective. Other lectures will address the theoretical components of the three core habituations.
An introduction to Somatic informed Internal Family Systems (IFS) will be part of this course. IFS is an internal healing conversation between ‘Self’ and parts. We will start to explore IFS in relation to our somatic work, both in a practical and in a theoretical way. The core teachings of IFS is that we contain multitudes and these many personalities inside us may be accessed in or around the body. These parts, like in a somatic lesson, are seen and heard through our higher ‘Self’ awareness, the curious, compassionate one. When this awareness and “un-blending” between Self and parts takes place, a transformative healing arch emerges.
Block A - 4 weeks
The first block focuses on addressing the Trauma habituation though an extensive somatic movement lesson. Lectures include academics, theory and anatomy in relation to this habituation. The lesson is experienced, broken down into parts, describes in detail and in week 3 the students practice teaching parts of this lesson themselves in smaller groups. We will also cover the formula for Self-healing, Spinal Anatomy and Pathology, and begin to learn about Somatic Internally Family Systems. Support materials include an interview with Susan McConnell, the founder of Somatic IFS.
Block B - 4 weeks
The second block focuses on addressing the Red Light habituation though a somatic movement lesson releasing the front-body. Lectures include academics, theory and anatomy in relation to this habituation. The lesson is experienced, broken down into parts, describes in detail and then the students practice teaching parts of this lesson themselves in smaller groups. Additionally, we will go into client intake, as well as continue our studies about Somatic IFS.
Block C - 4 weeks
The third block focuses on addressing the Green Light habituation though a somatic movement lesson releasing the back-body. Lectures include academics, theory and anatomy in relation to this habituation. A deeper understanding of the associated pathology and causes of back pain is covered. The lesson is experienced, broken down into parts, describes in detail and the students practice teaching parts of this lesson themselves in smaller groups. Lectures also cover neurophysiology and postural assessment.
Block D - 2 weeks
In the fourth block there is a practice clinic where students teach a lesson to a client. The clinic experience solidifies the practical learning of the application of the clinical lessons. At the end of the program time is spent on harvesting the learnings and deepening the understanding of the applications of this work.
